THE BAND

Jean Marie Hays
vocals, percussion,
acoustic guitar
When Jean Marie was three, downstairs while her mother was upstairs making the beds, she and her mom would do call-and-response singing. “Mostly so that she would know I was not getting into trouble,” she laughs. “I could barely talk, but I could sing.” Many years later, she’s still singing. She particularly loves harmony and seeing people enjoy our music. Through the years, she feels as if she’s still learning, still growing as a singer. She hopes to be singing for the rest of her life.
Jim Baldwin
vocals, acoustic and electiric guitars, ukulele
As a child, singing along with his big brother's Kingston Trio LPs, Jim imagined a large, round metal ashtray with a wooden handle as a guitar. Over the years, his instruments have gotten more refined, and his love for music has deepened. For many years a guitarist who sang, in recent years Jim has transformed into a singer/songwriter who plays guitar. “The difference may be subtle,” he says, “but the song is what’s important, and the voice is the way people connect to it.”
